Flores Island Provincial Park includes the western and southern parts of Flores Island, in the Clayoquot Sound of Vancouver Island's west coast.

This vast, untamed wilderness area protects three undisturbed watersheds and hosts a network of trails through ancient Sitka Spruce forests.

Comprising 7,113 hectares, Flores Island Park has one of the highest concentrations of Nuu-chah-nulth heritage sites in Clayoquot Sound. The traditional territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation covers most of the west coast of Vancouver Island.

An attraction of Flores Island is the Ahousat Wild Side Heritage Trail, a 32-km round trip wilderness hike from the Nuu-chah-nulth village of Ahousat (population 400) across the slopes of Mount Flores to the pristine beaches along the southern and western shores of the island.

For centuries Native Indians had used this trail to reach the wild beaches on the west side of the island. This vital route has now been restored as a magnificent hiking trail through ancient Sitka Spruce forests.

Watch passing gray whales on their way from Baja California to Alaska as you sea kayak the heavy ocean swells of the Pacific coast off Flores Island, or paddle and explore the numerous beaches and sheltered bays of the protected waters of Clayoquot Sound.

The summit of Mount Flores offers spectacular views of surrounding Clayoquot Sound. Gray whales can be encountered at any time during the summer, particularly in Cow Bay. This park also offers opportunities to view seals, sea lions, Bald eagles and a variety of seabirds. Tourism-related companies in Tofino and Ucluelet offer whale watching tours to view the Gray whales during the summer months.

Kayakers can camp on the beach at Whitesand Cove on the Southeast tip of Flores Island. No facilities are provided in the park.

Flores Island Provincial Park is located due west of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The park is accessible by boat or kayak from Hot Springs Cove or by kayak, boat water taxi and floatplane from Tofino, 12.5 miles (20 km) to the south. Kayakers can launch from the government dock in Tofino.
