The Navy: A Century in Art
The Navy: A Century in Art features 46 works from many of Canada’s leading war artists, depicting naval activities from the First World War to the present day. On tour from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, Ontario, where it was presented in 2010 to mark the Centennial of the founding of the Canadian navy. The exhibit shares the legacy of the navy experience as it moves into a new century. Celebrate-a-Life
This annual event offers individuals and families in the community with a unique way to remember their loved ones during the holiday season. Visitors are encouraged to write a tribute card in memory of a loved one to hang on the festive trees, or make a donation to Victoria Hospice. All the tributes will be published in a special Celebrate-A-Life advertisement in the Times Colonist in January. This year, there will be Celebrate-A-Life Trees in three locations during the holiday season. The Hillside Centre (Dec 1 – 12), The Bay Centre (Dec 13 – 28), The Empress Hotel’s Festival of Trees, (Nov 20 – Jan 4).

Nativity Exhibit
The 6th Annual Nativity Exhibit. Open to everyone! No admission fee or donation requested. This is the largest exhibit of Christmas Nativity scenes on Vancouver Island, with over 500 scenes on display, depicting that first Christmas so long ago. The nativities are on loan from families in the local community and are displayed in a quiet and reverent setting to bring out the true spirit of Christmas. All are welcome. Wheelchair accessible. Duncan City Totem Tour
In the winter months you can enjoy a self-guided Duncan City Totem Tour by following the yellow footprints around the downtown core in the city of Duncan. You will experience a wonderful outdoor event by viewing over 40 totem poles, including the world widest one. This is a free event for which you can pick up a map from Duncan Cowichan Visitor center at 361 Trans Canada Highway.
