Roche Cove Regional
Park, in East Sooke on Vancouver Island, covers 159 hectares and features
numerous beaches, beautiful vistas, forested trails, and a secluded
cove off the Sooke Basin.
Whether you're
out for a casual stroll or an invigorating hike, the extensive network
of walking and hiking trails in the park will provide hours of enjoyment
and exercise. There is no boating access or launch facility at the
cove or park.
The 46-kilometre
multi-use Galloping Goose Trail passes
through Roche Cove, connecting the park to the adjacent Matheson
Lake Regional Park. Hikers, cyclists, joggers and horse riders
share the trail, affectionately referred to as The Goose.

Starting from the
Roche Cove parking area, follow the walking trail to Kellett Point.
This affords lovely views of Sooke Basin and, in the distance, the
Olympic Mountains of Washington. The grassy knoll makes an excellent
picnic area.
Returning to
the parking lot you can continue along Cedar Grove Trail, the Galloping
Goose Trail or follow Matheson Creek Trail if you plan to visit
Matheson Lake, which is great for swimming, fishing and paddling.
Roche Cove and Roche Harbour in Sooke Basin are named for Richard Roche, 3rd Lieutenant on HMS Satellite, a British naval vessel stationed in Victoria from 1857-1860.
Roche Cove
Regional Park is located in Gillespie Road near Sooke, southwest
of Victoria off West Coast Highway 14.
