  Weather in BC

Squitty Bay is a sheltered anchorage located at the southeast tip of Lasqueti Island in the Strait of Georgia.

This 13-hectare park is a pleasant day-use area amongst rocky headlands and arid terrain - barren but beautiful.

You can spend a delightful day hiking the trails or you could visit the Ecological Reserve; walk out on the headland to a rock cairn, from where you look southeast to Vancouver and distant Mount Baker, and west to the Comox Valley, surmounted by the white expanse of the Comox Glacier. Be careful where you walk and sit, as ground-hugging prickly pear cacti grow here alongside Rocky Mountain juniper, far from its montane habitat.

Exploring Lasqueti Island by mountain bike (or even on skinny tires) makes a delightful day trip. You can easily ride the 11 miles (18 km) from False Bay at the north end of the island to Squitty Bay Marine Provincial Park on the southern tip in less than two hours.

Camping is not allowed in the park, and the only facilities are a freshwater pump, a public dock (36 m), picnic tables and pit toilets.

Squitty Bay Provincial Park is located at the eastern end of Lasqueti Island. Lasqueti Island lies between central Vancouver Island and Texada Island. There is no vehicle access to Squitty Bay. A passenger ferry service to False Bay on Lasqueti Island operates from French Creek, between Parksville and Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. Bicycles, canoes and kayaks can be carried aboard the ferry for an extra fee.
